Vintage Wooden DUCK DECOY by Hamlin Boat Works - Ludington, MI - Bluebill

Description

Up for bids is a primitive old working bluebill drake duck decoy that I believe has its original paint. The glass eyed wooden decoy measures 15 inches long as measured from tip of bill to tip of tail and has glass eyes. Weight, without packaging, is 2 pounds. There are two lead weights on the underside of the old bird. I have come across a number of these old bird's along the Lake Michigan shoreline near Muskegon, Michigan. I recently came upon an original advertising flyer from the maker of the decoy and managed to obtain a copy of the flyer. I have attached an image of the flyer on this listing (these decoys originally were sold for 25 cents each!). My understanding is that the "Hamlin Boat Works" was actually one man doing the carving. The maker had a home on the shoreline of Hamlin Lake just north of Ludington, Michigan, and did his carving in the boat house on the lake's shore.
