Description
scaup duck decoy Jack or Dan English Florence NJ ca. 1920 2nd of 2The 2nd of 2 . A hollow carved cedar scaup duck decoy by either Jack (1878-1944) or his brother Dan (1883-1962) English from Florence , New Jersey. They both were the sons of the famous Delaware River carved John English , Florence, N.J. who taught them and they used there fathers carving patterns. There are very slight differences in there carving and I believe this is by Dan with a slightly smaller head shape.. Measures 14 inches from the tip of the bill to the tail, tack eyes, carved nostrils and tail feathers, applied ballast weight on the rump, staple anchor tie with the remains of the original leather tie, a couple old in use repaints. Guaranteed to be as described/pictured.
NOTE; most of the shine on the decoys is from the camera lights
