This  Vintage   Wood Canada  Goose  decoy by the late  acclaimed  North  Carolina   decoy  carver,
Romie  Lee  Waterfield  (1918-2010).
Romie  ,  like so many of the other  fine carvers..comes  from  a  family of  carvers......it"s  all in the  family.
Intially  a hunting guide......then working  for   the Back  Bay  Wildlife  refuge,  then  a very fine carverlastly but not  least,  giving back to the community  by  mentoring  young  carvers.....lovely.
Such a gorgeous,  elegant   and   rare  example of  this  carver's  Goose  carvings...Romie's . keen  eye  for bold classic lines  and  detail...simple yet  powerful... note  the  beautiful  wood grain  textures on the neck  and  body....simple n strong paint and  brush strokes ....a large  size and a  masterpiece....
In   really good  condition,,,,with  slight  natural wear..some  specks top  right  neck  area...
19   inches  long  x  8 inches  wide  and  11 inches tall
signature RLW initials carved  into  the  wood on the bottom ...with   brass  tag number  365
and leather  strap and  still  with  the  weight on the  bottom.
This lovely  and extremely collectible  Goose  is a most  fine   example  of  Romie's work  to  add to your collection.
