    Description

Just uncovered at a high end estate sale, an awesome original 8" x 10" publicity photo of Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three signed by guitarist Luther Perkins.
Perkins was Cash's first guitarist (1954) and an early and influential player of Fender electric guitars. His first electric, a used Fender Esquire, had been modified by a previous owner and the volume control did not work. This led to him muting the E, A and D strings and developing the classic chunka chunka guitar style heard on all Cash's records. He died in 1968 after falling asleep with a lit cigarette.
Saul Holiff managed Johnny Cash from 1960 - 1973. He talked Johnny into adding June Carter Cash to the act in 1961, so this probably dates from 1960 when Saul first took over as manager.
Very good condition with some minor wear around the edges. The photo is much whiter than shown in these photos, at least on my monitor. The autograph is guaranteed authentic for life, not just for ebay's 30 days.
A very nice addition to any Johnny Cash, Luther Perkins, or Fender guitar collection.
